Leaving Behind Burnt Bridges

Have you ever found yourself at a crossroads, torn between the path you used to walk and the one leading you towards a greater purpose? It’s not uncommon to feel a longing to return to familiar territory, even if it no longer serves us. But what if burning those bridges was the best decision you ever made?

When I made the conscious choice to burn the bridges that connected me to my past, I did so with the intention of pursuing a higher calling. I wanted to dedicate my life to following Jesus, and I knew that in order to fully commit, I had to leave behind the attachments that held me back.

At times, the temptation to return to those old ways can be overwhelming. We may find ourselves standing on the edge of the bridge we once burned, hoping to mend what cannot be fixed. But the truth is, once a bridge is burnt, it can never be the same again. And that’s okay.

When I first set out on this journey, I burnt the bridge as a symbolic gesture of my commitment to pursue Jesus. It was a way of saying, “I am leaving behind my old self and embracing a new path.” It wasn’t an act of destruction, but rather a step towards transformation.

However, I soon realized that burning bridges is not a one-time event. It’s an ongoing process of letting go and surrendering our desires to God. It’s about acknowledging that the old ways no longer serve us and trusting that God has something greater in store.

Returning to our old selves or succumbing to self-desire can be alluring. We may feel a sense of comfort or familiarity in what we once knew. But pursuing Jesus requires us to let go of our attachments and walk in His righteous path.

So, how do we resist the urge to return to those burnt bridges? The key lies in staying connected to Jesus. Through prayer, reading His Word, and seeking His guidance, we can find the strength to persevere. It’s about constantly reminding ourselves of the purpose behind our decision to burn those bridges in the first place.

As we pursue Jesus, we may encounter challenges and doubts along the way. We may question if we made the right choice or if we should turn back. But in those moments, we must remember that God’s plan is always greater than our own. He sees the bigger picture, and He knows what lies ahead.

Instead of dwelling on the past or longing for what once was, let us focus on the present and the future. Let us embrace the journey of pursuing Jesus, knowing that He is with us every step of the way.

So, if you find yourself standing on the edge of a burnt bridge, remember that it’s never too late to turn towards Jesus. He is waiting with open arms, ready to guide you on your path of righteousness. Trust in Him, and let go of the bridges that no longer serve you. The pursuit of Jesus is worth it.
