Healing the Pain of Rejecting My Fleshly Desires

The Struggle of Denying My Fleshly Desires

Life is filled with temptations and desires that often pull us away from our faith and the path that the Lord has set for us. It is a constant battle between what our flesh wants and what our spirit knows is right. And in this struggle, there is pain.

When we make the conscious decision to reject the desires of our flesh and choose the Lord instead, it can be incredibly challenging. Our flesh craves instant gratification, pleasure, and indulgence. It seeks to satisfy our immediate wants and needs without considering the long-term consequences. But as believers, we are called to a higher standard, to live a life that is pleasing to God.

The pain that comes from denying our fleshly desires is real. It can be physical, emotional, and spiritual. It is a deep ache that gnaws at our hearts, reminding us of what we have chosen to let go of. It is a constant battle within ourselves, a wrestling match between what our flesh wants and what our spirit knows is right.

Choosing God Over Our Flesh

In the midst of this pain, we must remember why we have chosen to deny our fleshly desires. We have chosen the Lord because we know that He is the source of true joy, peace, and fulfillment. We know that the desires of our flesh are fleeting and temporary, but the love and grace of God are everlasting.

Choosing God over our flesh is not an easy decision, but it is one that we must make daily. It requires discipline, self-control, and a deep reliance on the strength of the Holy Spirit. It means saying no to immediate gratification in order to pursue a deeper, more meaningful relationship with the Lord.

The Healing Power of God

In the midst of our pain, we can find solace in knowing that God is with us. He sees our struggle, He understands our pain, and He longs to bring healing and wholeness to our lives. When we cry out to Him, He listens. When we ask Him to heal us, He responds.

God’s healing power is not just physical, but also emotional and spiritual. He can mend our broken hearts, heal our wounds, and renew our spirits. He can bring restoration to our lives and make us new. We may still face challenges and temptations, but with God’s healing touch, we can find the strength to resist and overcome.

Praying for Healing and Wholeness

So, in the midst of our pain, let us turn to the Lord in prayer. Let us pour out our hearts before Him, expressing our struggles, our desires, and our longing for healing. Let us ask Him to make us whole, to renew our minds, and to transform our hearts.

Lord, I am in pain. The pain caused by rejecting the desire of my flesh. It is hurting me. But I choose you, Lord. I choose your ways over the temporary desires of my flesh. I ask you to heal me, to make me whole, and to make me new. Give me the strength to resist temptation and to walk in your ways. Help me to find joy and fulfillment in you alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In Conclusion

Denying the desires of our flesh is not an easy path to walk, but it is one that leads to true freedom and fulfillment. In the midst of our pain, let us remember that God is with us, ready to heal and restore us. Let us turn to Him in prayer, seeking His strength and guidance. And let us trust that He will make us whole and new, bringing us closer to the abundant life He has planned for us.
